On Tuesday,
November 22, John and Louise Gingerich took Leah to Vernonia, Oregon,
to visit the third grade classroom of Judy Gingerich. It was a
beautiful fall day and we had a nice drive through the country arriving
in time for lunch in a local cafe in this logging town in the coast
range.
After lunch, we went to Vernonia Elementary school where Leah told
Judy's students about life in China. One of her students, Zixian
Chen pictured below, is from China and was delighted to have a guest
from China and was eager to talk Chinese, demonstrate the use of
chopsticks, and see pictures from China. A good time was had by all.
Next we drove to Jewell wildlife refuge to see the Elk. We saw large
herds including bucks with as many at 7 points on their antlers. Leah
was fascinated with these animals and took many pictures. We returned
to Vernonia for a visit in Judy's home and dinner in the local Chinese
restraunt.
