Zion Mennonite Church Mission Statement

Our vision of the church is--a community of believers in Jesus Christ who love, worship and serve God with their whole being, who embody the fullness of Christ in their relationships, and who glorify Jesus by using their unique gifts and calling to bring salvation (physical, spiritual, relational, and mental healing, peace, justice) to the people in their neighborhood and throughout the world through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Zion Mennonite Church is called by God to be a community of faith in Jesus Christ. As a community of faith we covenant to:

1. Love and worship the Triune God--
    Matt. 4:10, 22:37; Rev. 14:7; Deut. 6:5; Matt.3:13-17.

2. Share God's unconditional love »ith all people--
    John 3:16, 13:34-35, 15:12-13; Rom. 5:8, 13:8-10; Gal. 5:14; James 2:15-16; I Jn. 3:16-18, 4:7-12; Matt. 22:39.

3. Be ambassadors for Christ who reconciles people to God--
    II Cor. 5:17-20; Col. 1:19-20; Matt. 28:19-20; Luke 24:46-47.

4. Be and make disciples of Christ-Matt. 28:19; Luke 14:33; John 8:31-36, 13:35, 15:8,14; II Jn. 9.

5. Seek and pursue the peace and justice of God--
    Hos. 12:6; Amos 5:24; Micah 6:8; Mt. 5:9; Jn. 14:27; Acts 10:36; Rom 5:1, 14:19; I Cor 15:22; Eph 2:14-17; Phil 4:7; I Pet. 3:11.

Another way of saying this is that:
We seek to become RADICAL followers of Jesus Christ.

Reconcile all people to God as ambassadors of Christ

Act with mercy and peace to all peoples

Disciple each other to Jesus Christ

Invite and include new people into the community of faith

Commit ourselves completely to Jesus Christ

Announce the good news of Jesus Christ to the world

Love God and all people as God loves us

The Purpose of this Congregation is to  be a local family of God’s people, committed to Jesus Christ and to each other. It is our intention:
  1. To serve God through worship and the discernment of His will in daily discipleship.
  2. To serve each other through discipline and mutual care as a community of believers.
  3. To serve the world by witnessing through word and deed, upholding Christ’s ethic of love and nonresistance.
Doctrine and Relationships: We accept the Bible as the inspired Word of God, our final authority for faith and life. We hold membership in the Pacific Northwest Mennonite Conference, and by that relationship are also members of Mennonite Church USA. The 1995 Confession of Faith in a Mennonite Perspective is the current statement of our historic faith within the Anabaptist tradition.
